The Anti-Good Samaritan Law.
“A (California) Bay Area city voted Tuesday to criminalize “aiding” or “abetting” homeless camps, an apparent first-of-its-kind measure that could make it harder for unhoused people to receive food, medical care and other services.” —Washington Post, 2/12/2025
The criminalization of caring is tearing us away from our soul-force-source of what essentially makes us human. This Calf. statute describes the power of leadership. “A fish rots from the head down,” and thus our national and local character is shaped by the leaders we elect to represent us. This is not some mean and ugly person acting “not like us.” They are very much like us. In fact, they are us, not some mysterious foreign secret thief in the night who entered our hearts and emptied them of all compassion. Our submission to evil is our confession of our collective cooperation and identification with that evil. And yet, it is our compassion that can guide us back to our higher-brain sense of humanity, inspiring hope for a better future.
Peach trees give freely
without thoughts of selfish greed,
it’s a deed we need.
Flowers and bees share
a simple act of joint care
who sees them argue?
Mother earth hugs us
tho we wound her daily, yet
plants and bugs give love.
Give Dance a Chance.
Our political leaders are so focused on gaining economic, military, or geopolitical advantages and outmaneuvering their counterparts that they overlook the beautiful benefits of cooperation. We The People, could establish a criterion for assuming
a civil leadership position that would require those aspiring leaders to engage in the civilizing dance of the Tango with their most ardent adversary.
Untangle hate from
hardened feet, our fate is in
tango steps of faith.
Weakness is farness
away from hearts sharing rhythms,
the nearness of peace.
We all must chance the
turns and twisting pains of life
why not dance as one?
