Sometimes, people honestly tell you who they are, and if you reject their truth-telling, that’s on you!

“What part of “neo-Nazi” does JD Vance not understand? That’s one question that arises from his decision to meet with the head of a German political party so extreme, and with such a long and noxious history of sanitizing and embracing symbols and slogans of the Third Reich, that even other radical right-wing parties in Europe have ostracized it…” From: “What’s behind Vance’s stunning decision to embrace Germany’s AfD?” ——Washington Post, 2/16/2025

Bad leaders lie down
in dogged lies, deep in dung,
feeding flying fleas.

Mad leaders shun time
and historical change, a
sign a reign is done.

For years, I taught my science students who were suspiciously convinced that I had a “trick answer” up my lab coat sleeve, the operative principle of “Occam’s Razor,” which basically says that sometimes the most direct and correct solution to a problem can be the most rudimentary and straightforward explanation or process; “let’s not unnecessarily overcomplicate things here folks,” I would say, “as there’s enough in the syllabus that is genuinely complicated.” In this case, J.D. Vance agrees with the AfD neo-fascist, neo-Nazi, and their racist philosophical positions! It’s that simple. Now, how he squares that with his non-white wife is perhaps the more complex and interesting question to probe.

VP Vance invites Germany to reinvite fascism

    Not like the former rival changed their place;
    With enduring grace inside pain of shame;
    Where at the frontlines, soldiers waste their names,
    A grievous era, lost lives, loss of face;
    For the memory thinning through fast pace;
    Others with grave sights grieve the loss of same
    Shows made to unwelcome his wild tongue blame
    To clear the air of beastly thoughts on race.
    Keep lying hands from our pockets of peace!
    With brave lips give hope not away so soon
    Your scrambled missives yearning to be piece
    Of greater refuge with our yearning tune
    Set your words for healing, a greater case
    To make in nightmare times, a calming moon.
